U.S. University Starts Tuna Canning Workshop

A tuna canning workshop providing ‘newbie’ canners with the knowledge of how to properly prepare and preserve catch will be taking place in Myrtle Point, Oregon.

The class is also said to benefit experienced micro canners to ensure they are up-to-date on the methods and times that are required. It will be held on September 7 by volunteers with the Oregon State University Extension Service, The Master Food Preservers of Coos County.

Participants in the workshop are urged to bring their canners for a full inspection. This is especially encouraged of those using dial gauges as it is recommended they are checked annually. Attendees will receive some free canned tuna to take home.
