Grupo Consorcio Opens New Tuna Processing Plant

Grupo Consocio has opened a new tuna processing plant in Santona, Spain, for the production of Atlantic albacore and skipjack. This comes as part of the company’s industrial expansion plan to modernize and expand facilities.

The Spanish canning company, known for its retro labels has invested over USD 5 million over four years to reach its target expansion. It has highlighted the importance of its business for the region as it makes it an international benchmark for the number of jobs that have been generated.

Grupo Consorcio president, Ignacio Diego, said the company is also benefitting the local economy significantly through increased exportation of products, and should be commended on the professionalism of its staff and its continuous investment to learn to adapt to demanding markets.

The business sees around a USD 80 million turnover, of which 60 percent comes from exports to 40 countries.
