Yueh Chyang Is Vietnam’s #1 Tuna Exporter Vietnam, January 8, 13

Vietnam’s Yueh Chyang kept its top position as the country’s leading tuna exporter last year, with nearly USD 57.3 million in sales, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

In the first 10 months of 2012, Vietnam’s top 10 tuna exporters earned over USD 405 million.
Between January and October 2012, tuna exports reached USD 482 million, up 53% from the same period in 2011. The main export markets were the US, the European Union (EU) and Japan which experienced growths of 47%, 45% and 34%, respectively.
Sales to the US, which accounts for 44% of the market, reached USD 213 million, followed by the EU at USD 91 million and a 19% share of the market. Japan was next, representing 10% of the market, with exports reaching a value of USD 49 million.
Sales to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries, representing 7% of the market, totaled USD 33 million. China and Hong Kong followed with USD 9 million and 2% of the market, with other countries contributing USD 87 million and accounting for the remaining 18% of the market.
Exports to most markets in the top 10 spots saw an increase in value, except Iran which saw the value of shipments drop by 5%.
