PEW And PNA Organize Tuna Workshop For Journalists Solomon Islands, August 14, 12

A one week communicating tuna workshop will be held in Honiara starting Wednesday.

It will be from the 15th to the 20th of this month at the Iron Bottom Sound Hotel.

The workshop will be held by PEW Environment Group and Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) Tuna.

The objective of this workshop is to equip journalists throughout PNA countries on current information on issues in tuna management and development within the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries (WCPF) waters.

It is anticipated that after this workshop, journalists should be able to produce more stories about tuna in the WCPF region for their national audience.

The countries of Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia and Palau, have worked collaboratively since 1982 to manage the tuna stocks within their national waters through the PNA Agreement.
