USA And Marshalls Together On The Hunt For IUU Tuna Vessels Marshall Islands, March 8, 12

The U.S. Coast Guard and representatives from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, one of the PNA nations, will enforce tuna fisheries laws in a joint operation following a visit to the island of Majuro Monday, according to a Coast Guard release.
Ship riders from the Republic of the Marshall Islands will embark on the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis to assist in patrolling the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ tuna rich exclusive economic zone against illegal fishing activities, by foreign longliners and purse seine vessels.
The mission is to help sustain the international tuna fishery, the release stated.
Rear Adm. Charles W. Ray, commander of the 14th Coast Guard District, and the crew of the Jarvis are scheduled to conduct community outreach and official engagements during their visit to Majuro, like visiting local elementary and high schools and playing basketball and volleyball.
