Thai Union Sees No Opportunities For Canned Tuna In India

The world’s largest canned tuna producer Thai Union Frozen Products will not be introducing its canned tuna in India because there is no market demand yet.

Instead, the company will focus on selling its Ready-to-Eat line of products when it expands for the first time in India.

Targeting the Indian market is Thai Union’s latest step forward to meet its ambitious, revenue goal. The company plans to increase its revenue by 18-20% each year to USD 5 billion by 2015. It hopes to achieve a turnover of USD 8 billion by 2020.

Meanwhile, it is already eyeing more opportunities in Europe, which contributed 32% to the company’s turnover of USD 3.23 billion last year. Each year, overseas sales account for 90% of Thai Union’s total revenue.
