2009 Means Huge Boost In Vietnams Tuna Exports

Vietnam has exported more than 10,000 tons of tuna since the beginning of this year, earning US$30 million, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
The European Union, the US and Japan remain Vietnam’s leading tuna importers.

VASEP says tuna exports showed modest signs of recovery thanks to constant efforts made by businesses to cope with the impact of the global economic crisis which led to a fall in the consumption of high-quality seafood.

At present, the Foodtech Ltd. Co. is Vietnam’s No1 tuna exporter, followed by the Highland Dragon, Toan Thang, Hai Long, Tin Thinh and Bidifisco companies.

The Phu Yen provincial Tuna Association has been established to promote links between fishermen, processors, exporters and managers to help businesses surmount difficulties and build brand awareness of its tuna products.
